In loving memory of Judy

Today we said goodbye to Judy. Our Jude the Dude, or Judy Booty, our sweet girl. We think she was around 14 or 15 years old, but one thing we know for certain is that she spent more than 10 years filling our lives with love.

Judy actually found me. I was in college, in between classes, and stopped at a gas station to grab something to eat. For whatever reason, I left my car door open. When I came back outside, there was a little beagle looking thing sitting in my car, like she had been waiting for me all along. From that moment on, she never really left my side.

She followed me everywhere around the house and had this way of looking into your soul with those sweet eyes. She somehow managed to take up an entire bed with her little body, stretching out just enough to make sure everyone else was hanging on to the edge. We all complained, but secretly, we wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

She also had the biggest mama heart. Over the years, I brought home more than my fair share of baby animals from the zoo, and Judy somehow decided every single one of them was hers. She would lie beside them to keep them company, gently watch over them, and sometimes even clean them as if they were her own babies. Caring for others just seemed to come naturally to her.

Judy wasn't just my best friend. She was Kadance's best friend too. Alongside Cooper, she helped fill our home with love, comfort, laughter, and countless memories that we'll hold onto forever.

She was never flashy. She didn't need to be. She was simply good. A good dog. An even greater friend. The kind of friend who stayed close through every season of life, asking for nothing more than to be near the people she loved.

Thank you, Judy, for choosing my car that day all those years ago. Thank you for every cuddle, every laugh, every stolen spot in the bed, and every moment you spent by our side. You gave us so much more than we could ever have given you.

Go rest now, sweet girl. We'll miss you more than words can say, but we'll carry you with us always. We love you, Jude the Dude. Forever.
