MooMoo Knight

d. November 4, 2025

White Hall, Arkansas

In the fall of 2016, a simple Facebook post about a free Chihuahua brought Marley to Danna. As his 4th owner, everyone else had given up on him. He was renamed Mickey, Mickey MooMoo and eventually just MooMoo. He chose Danna over everything else and they became inseparable. Spring of 2017 he was overcome with pain and his Doctor discovered he was born missing the discs between two vertabrae and said he needed surgery but warned he likely would not survive it. The only other option was complete and total bed rest and sedation. Danna too had recently had a spinal fusion so together the got in bed and closed the door . If he needed anything it was done for him by Danna, growing the bond even stronger between them. After 2 months they were able to wean him from his powerful meds and eventually he was back to himself. All of this wouldn't have been possible without Danna's best friend Lisa who organized a GoFundMe, crocheted items for sale and anything else she could think of to help cover the bills while they were locked away.

As a way to repay the debt in the only way they could, MooMoo and Danna decided to foster a few pups for Rescue Road to give back and save some lives. MooMoo was there every step of the way and made sure the best lesson they could get from him was not to mess with little guys. It started a ripple effect and 6 years later, together, we have fostered right at 200 dogs and puppies, and cared for, transported, loved on and found homes for hundreds more. Whether it was tiny newborns being driven to a bottle feeder, gigantic Mastiffs that needed a ride to a rescue in another state or a trip all the way to Florida to deliver a special pup to his new family, MooMoo was the co-pilot in his car seat on every trip. His sudden illness and passing has been devastating to say the least but what a legacy he leaves behind. From Pine Bluff Arkansas to Boston Massachusetts and all points in between, there is a trail of rescued pups that owe their lives, now filled with love and forever families, all to this tiny boy and his and Danna's quest to repay the debt of kindness shown to them.

Never underestimate the huge wave that can start from just a ripple of the tiniest hand. His won't end as his spirit will always live in Danna's heart as she keeps helping those who do not have a voice in his memory.

Rescue Road is a 501c3 organization comprised completely of caring, hardworking volunteers running solely on donations. If you are so inclined as the Holiday season approaches please give of your time, assets or even prayers for those who give their all to animals in need. Your local shelter pups and kitties would love some treats for Christmas or maybe a new soft blanket to lay on.

MooMoo's legacy will live on and if you would like to donate in his name, it will save countless lives and be so appreciated.
