Pete Jordan

When Pete showed up at a nearby deer camp and was the low pup in the pecking order among the dogs who were there, we decided to give him a furever home. The vet guessed his age to be between one and two years old, and we had him about 12 years. Pete loved trying to help with the cows and riding in the back of the truck and on the four-wheeler. He was easygoing unless kids, cats, or critters got too close to his food bowl. The last couple of years it became his job to “clean” the plates after the cats had their canned food. Pete was good to answer when the coyotes would howl, which seemed to keep them a safe distance from the yard and let us know they were in the area. Pete’s guard dog duty was questionable. We would know someone had arrived if he started walking across the yard wagging his tail. He was big enough to bluff strangers, but he was a good ol’ dog at heart. We miss Pete, and losing him has left a void on the farm and in our hearts.
